So a good few week ago now, I was casually sat in my pjs, no change there, scrolling through my phone, oh shock no change there either, when I received an email telling me that I was soon to receive another voxbox from the fab guys at Influenster UK! And as soon as I discovered the box was to include a tonne of Dermalogica products, you bet I was pretty ecstatic! I first discovered the brand roughly this time last year when I received a small pot of the Dermalogica daily microfoliant in my look fantastic beauty advent calendar, and I bloody loved that stuff! So I was pretty eager to tare into the box as soon as it arrived at my house! In total the box included 4 products, 5 if you include the little silicone bristled pad that came with the newly released, precleanse balm. Now I’ve only been trailing the whole box for about a week, maybe 2 now so this post is more of a first impressions and how I use each product, rather than an in-depth review on how it’s altered my skin! So here are my thoughts…
‘This highly-active resurfacer delivers your smoothest skin ever, and helps fight the biochemical environmental triggers know to accelerate aging.’
The whole idea of this product just appeals to me. SO. DAMN. MUCH. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, gone are the days where I would happily cake my face in a tonne of makeup on the daily! Now I’m all about upping my skincare game and wearing minimal makeup, expect on a night out of course, then I’m back to that full coverage foundation and baking! Anyway, there’s nothing better than a great cleanser, you know the ones where you can actually feel a difference straight after! So after I’ve removed my makeup with the Liz Earle cleanse and polish, I always go back in with a double cleanse and this is now filling that spot! I like to dampen my face and soak my hands entirely before pouring out about a teaspoon amount of the superfoliant powder and mixing it into my hand, it forms a grey paste straight away, you just have to make sure you have enough powder to water ratio! Then I add the concoction to my face and massage it in circular motions for about a minute before washing it all off. Immediately after I can feel the difference, my skin feels so clean and slightly tight which I absolutely love, I can really feel that all the crap in my pores have been removed! I’ve only been using this for a brief time so I’ve not noticed any significant changes to my skin but so far I am loving it!
I have pretty dehydrated skin usually, but lately it’s been more normal/dry, and even though this skin smoothing cream is designed for combination/dry skin i’ve still been using it every morning for the last week. It’s a medium weight moisturiser with extracts of mallow, cucumber and arnica which all soothe and hydrate the skin! It isn’t overly scented although some Dermalogica products do have a distinct scent in my opinion! I only apply a small amount and then rub it into my face and neck, and then leave it for a minute to fully soak in before I apply any makeup! It’s a nice moisturiser but I don’t think it will be sticking in my morning skincare routine!
This balm turns to oil once rubbed all over your face and removes your makeup and any impurities along with it! On first impressions I feel like this will suit me far more as a second cleanse! Even though I’m wearing far less makeup than I ever, I’m being far more thorough in removing it! I can’t bare the thought of leaving a load of crap on my face over night… no thank you!!! So having this as an extra step sounds perfect to me!
‘Recommended for all skin types – a soap free, foaming gel designed to thoroughly remove excess oils and impurities without drying the skin.’
Similarly to the superfoliant, I use this by firstly dampening my face and then soaking my hands before pouring a small amount of this gel and then rubbing my hands together to create a foam. I then massaged it all over my face and neck before rinsing it off with warm water! Again, I wouldn’t routinely use this product but it’s a nice one to have in the bathroom for when I want to mix my skincare up a bit!
Have you used anything from Dermalogica before, I would love to know?
That’s all for now, until next time.
